About the
Marathon

Born from the vision of Afowiri Kizito Fondzenyuy, internationally recognized as the Toghu Marathoner and a Guinness World Record holder, YCM is the first cultural marathon of its kind. After running 19 marathons across 6 continents in Cameroon’s iconic Toghu attire, Afowiri brought his legacy home in 2025 by donating his Toghu marathon gear, Guinness World Record plaque, and Abbott World Marathon Majors Six-Star Medal to the National Museum of Cameroon.
Now, the Yaoundé Cultural Marathon carries that legacy forward — inspiring Cameroonians that anything is possible.
